Ultra Miami has been on my bucket list for a while but I've always had plenty of festivals to attend each year already. This year, my friend Brennan had an extra ticket so he invited me to join him and Jared. It's also been a few months since I went scuba diving and I had never been to Miami before, so I jumped at the opportunity.

I was warned that Ultra wasn't as PLUR as some of the other festivals, but I honestly had a great time! There were certainly enough people pushing their way through the crowd without saying "excuse me" but you see that at any big gathering of people nowadays. I made sure to bring several sprouts to give out to folks and my positive energy. I had gone diving in the morning but still made it back to the hotel in time to get changed and to get in line before the doors opened. While Brennan and I were waiting, someone offered for me to pick a Pokémon card out of their deck. I don't know if it's good or not but I got a Swinub. Good vibes starting before we even got in!

We started the day at the Mainstage to see Frank Walker which was a good warmup. Voyd followed which was much too hard metal for my taste and the mosh pit that opened up right next to us was anything but PLUR. I stayed for longer than I should have and then explored the venue a bit, catching a few minutes of Worship, and then returning for Illenium. I didn't stay for the whole set though since I also wanted to see Steve Aoki at the UMF Radio stage. As I was leaving, I saw someone in an Electric Forest hat so I said hi and gave him a sprout. He gave me a sticker for a Pegosaurus! Saw a bit of his set and the surprise b2b which wound up being him and Alan Walker performing together for the first time as The Lonely Club.

After that, I caught a few minutes of Vintage Culture at the Resistence Megastructure but I didn't want to miss Armin Van Buuren b2b Marlon Hoffstadt either, so I caught a bit of that set too before heading back to the Mainstage to see Alesso and Martin Garrix. Even though Armin is one of my absolute favorites, Martin Garrix is always an incredible entertainer as well. After his set was over, I went back to the Worldwide stage to see Armin Van Buuren solo to close out the night as fireworks exploded over the mainstage next door.

NGL, I was a bit tired at the end of the night but that just meant that I had a fantastic and very full first day!
