One of the motivating factors for the trip was that my friend Andrew invited me to join him at Disney World around the same time as EDC. Since I didn't plan my trip until late, they had already scheduled it for Wednesday through Friday so that's why I filled in the extra two days at Universal, but it worked out well.
Andrew is intense at Disney World and his trips make mine look like a literal stroll through the park. We were supposed to meet at Animal Kingdom at 7am (in the morning!) but they were a few minutes late so we missed the rope drop for the Extra Magic Hour by just a few minutes. As soon as they did arrive though, we jogged over to Pandora for the Avatar Flight of Passage. That was something else first thing in the morning. After that, we did the more chill Na'vi River Journey. Andrew wanted to loop riding the Expedition Everest so the rest of us did the Kilimanjaro Safari, which was a real treat to do early in the morning when the animals were most active. Nearly all of the pictures I took today were just from the safari because I loved the animals and we didn't get much time to slow down otherwise. After the safari, I had to stop for some food so I grabbed a croissant, tater tots, and a cupcake while the rest of the crew ran ahead to Everest. I joined them on the second ride (which was Andrew's like fifth time). Finished out the park with the Dinosaur ride and then we headed over to Hollywood Studios for our fast passes.
The Rockin' Roller Coaster was broken down so we did Tower of Terror first. I love the original Twilight Zone theming more than the Guardians of the Galaxy theme we have in Cali. Did Toy Story Midway Mania and Smuggler's Run before sitting down for a nice big lunch at The Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant where I had a delicious steak. Before we could even get the check, we raced off back to the Rockin' Roller Coaster since it had reopened.
Took the gondola over to EPCOT to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind then Test Track. I struggled to find a snack since I needed some sugar, but I did find a cookie at a coffee cart so I was back in business.
We ended the day at Magic Kingdom where we did Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, and TRON Lightcycle / Run. I loved the Tron ride since it was great getting to fly through the air although the ride was over way too quickly.
It was after Midnight by the time I got on the ferryboat back to the Transportation and Ticketing Center to catch a Lyft back to my hotel.
The next day, we were back at the parks at 8:30am to ride Space Mountain 3 times in a row, the new Tiana's Bayou Adventure (formerly Splash Mountain), the Jingle Cruise (at my insistence), and the Barnstormer. Headed to EPCOT next for another big steak lunch in Canada. I had to head to the airport so I didn't get to enjoy the rest of the day with the crew, but I still got to do nearly every ride in just a day and a half.
I totalled the week long trip with 77 miles of walking across 7 days. Even burned more calories on Wednesday at Disney for a total of 1,560 and 112 exercise minutes compared to the 1,394 calories on Sunday at EDC.
